The Department of Psychology

Psychology is the scientific subject that deals with human thoughts, feelings, behaviour and interaction with others. It is a popular subject, and large numbers of people apply for our programmes and wide range of self-contained courses. All instruction is linked to research and we endeavour, through our broad range of courses, to meet the needs of society at large for psychological knowledge.

The psychological research undertaken at the Department relates to areas such as work, human health, the environment, substance abuse, consciousness, the judicial system and development and ageing. Our research has a strong interdisciplinary tradition and we often cooperate with researchers in other subjects.
