Equal value and Equal opportunities at the University of Gothenburg

Where can I apply for support?

Accessibility – need for support

From first of January 2015 amendments to the Discrimination Act introduced inadequate accessibility for people with disabilities as a new form of discrimination. The University of Gothenburg can support students with disabilities in various ways so that they have an opportunity to carry out their studies on the same terms as other students. Individual students and departments can apply for advice with regard to finding specific solutions to meet the special needs that students with disabilities may have. Examples of disability are impaired hearing and vision, impaired mobility and dyslexia.

The contact person on accessibility issues in the Department of Psychology is the study adviser Tina Ahlström, tina.ahlstrom@psy.gu.se, tel. 031-786 1670.

Students who have other types of support needs can apply to the Department's Student Consultation Group (the STUDS Group), which consists of the director of studies, study advisers and teachers. Rosalie Särgård is the contact person and convenor.

If you feel that you do not receive the support to which you are entitled or have any other problems relating to accessibility of rooms, information etc., you can contact the Department's Equality of treatment representative Catarina Gunnarsson.

Discrimination and harassment

The Head of Department is responsible for the promotion of equal opportunities and equality of treatment. Students who do not feel that they are treated equally in teaching situations should firstly contact their course leader, the Head of Department or any of the deputy heads of department.

The Department’s Equality of treatment representative Catarina Gunnarsson can provide further information, advice and support, and also help with these contacts.
