Courses at the PhD programme

The PhD programme contains a course element of 75 higher education credits (HECs) of which 37.5 credits are compulsory courses in research methodology. The corresponding requirement for a licentiate is 45 HECs, including 15 credits research methodology. The PhD and the Licentiate programme also require 5 HECs in higher education pedagogics.

Other courses are decided in consultation with the supervisor. In the case a doctoral student is permitted to transfer credits from the advanced level or from another university, this must be stated in the individual study plan.

As far as space allows, it's possible to attend other departments' courses. You find a list of all courses within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the faculty's web site.

Courses given by the department are approved by the Postgraduate Studies Board (FUB). Courses given elsewhere and at the advanced level may be approved by the supervisor.
