Adult Development and Aging

The research group Adult Development and Aging (ADA-Gero Group) is a team of researchers involved in research on various aspects of aging and adult development. Our group is dedicated to advance:

  • Basic understanding of age-related cognitive and emotional health
  • Multidisciplinary research to uncover genetic, health-related and socio-cultural influences on late life cognitive and emotional health
  • Interest among students in aging and adult development in courses and training programs

Our group is part of the AgeCap Center and Epi Life Fas Center at the University of Gothenburg, the IALSA network and Swedish Brain Power

At the University of Gothenburg our ADA-Gero Group has close collaboration with the unit for Cognitive Medicine and the Neuropsychiatric Epidemiology Research Unit, both at the Sahlgrenska Academy.

The ADA-Gero Group is also awarded full-membership in the Global Aging Research Network (GARN).

Educational activities

The ADA-Gero group is involved in several of the Department's courses and programmes at different levels.

On the Psychologist Programme:

  • Developmental psychology, module Adult development and aging
  • Cognitive Psychology, module Cognitive aging

Among general courses in Psychology:

  • Psychology: Basic Course, module Developmental psychology
  • Psychology: Intermediate course, module Developmental psychology
  • Psychology: Research Methods and Bachelor Thesis in Psychology
  • Clinical health psychology

At the PhD level:

  • Ageing: From multidisciplinary to integrative perspectives on ageing and capability  7,5 ECTS
  • Analysis of data from longitudinal designs, 7,5 ECTS
  • Bayesian Data Analysis, 7,5 ECTS
  • Factor analysis/Structural equation modeling, 7,5 ECTS
