Research interests

My research interests concern identity, self-representation and self-image from a theoretical standpoint in the intersection of social psychology, developmental psychology, and personality psychology. I am especially interested in how different domains of identity is structured and integrated to a meaningful whole. Other keywords of interest are intersectionality and cultural context.

Current research

My dissertation builds on the following projects with a focus on the processes, content and structure of identity.

GREEN (Gothenburg Research on Ethnicity-related Experiences and identity Narratives) is a project on young people's identity and experiences. The focus lies on the stories young people have about who they are and their experiences. An important question in the project is whether, and if so, in what way, ethnicity affects how we tell stories about ourselves and our experiences. The project is in collaboration with Moin Syed at the University of Minnesota.

GoLD (the Gothenburg Longitudinal study of Development) is a longitudinal study which has been ongoing for more than 30 years. The overall aim is to investigate cross-generational patterns of identity and personality development in early adulthood. With this study, we wish to shed light on the ways in which different individuals may follow different trajectories of identity development and how this is related to both individual and contextual factors.
