Om Linda Hassing

Bakgrund

Läste psykologi vid Universitet i Reykjavik. Disputerade i psykologi 1998 vid Göteborgs universitet på en avhandling om minnet hos äldre. Blev docent i psykologi 2004.

Undervisning

Undervisar på alla nivåer i olika ämnen. Kursansvarig för C-kursen samt undervisar om kognition och åldrande, statistik och forskningsmetodik, handleder studenter som skriver uppsatser på olika nivåer, samt doktorander.

Forskningsintresse

Mitt forskningsintresse riktar sig mot sambandet mellan livsstil och kognitiv utveckling under vuxenliv och åldrande, närmare bestämt att undersöka betydelsen av individ- (exempelvis personlighet, välbefinnande, utbildning) och livsstilsrelaterade faktorer (övervikt, fysisk inaktivitet, stress) i medelåldern för kognitiv hälsa i hög ålder.

Pågående forskning

Jag arbetar med data från det Svenska Tvillingregistret. I tvillingregistret finns information från 60-70 talet om individers livsstil (t.ex. vikt, fysisk aktivitet, yrke, utbildning, stress, motion, alkoholvanor och rökning). Samma individer har 30-40 år senare deltagit i omfattande longitudinella studier om kognitiv svikt och demens. Den samlade informationen om livsstil i medelåldern används för att belysa den långsiktiga risken för att utveckla demens i hög ålder.
